Review Policies

I am no longer reviewing books at this blog, because I’m no longer blogging at this blog! Thanks for your interest, but please don’t email me asking for a review because the answer will always be no.

Want a Review?

If you’re an author or a publisher and you’d like me to review a book, just shoot me an email at and we’ll get the ball rolling.

Some rough guidelines for review submissions: I’m more than happy to dive into science fiction, literary fiction, and anything Canadian. On the other hand, I don’t review romance novels, religious fiction, or children’s books. I’m also extremely selective about non-fiction, graphic novels, young adult, historical fiction, and self-published works.

Staying Honest

I try to review fairly and criticize thoughtfully, since I don’t see a point in posting overly negative reviews or jumping on an author for the hell of it. For the most part, anything I review on the site is something I would recommend to a friend. On the other hand, I have no qualms about saying I didn’t like a book – and telling you exactly why.

Every review here is an honest one, and you’ll never find paid content in my posts. I occasionally (and happily) receive review copies of books for free from publishers or authors, and will clearly note whenever this is the case. Getting a free book does not affect the content of the review – it just makes it far more likely that I’ll review it. For the most part I get my reading material from the library, because I’m a starving graduate student.
