Dedications: In remembrance of happy hours

Xmas1936_Bookrock

In remembrance of happy hours during the last year.
Xmas 1980.
Jim.

I’ve never seen a more stoic declaration of happiness. Or maybe it’s sarcastic?

When I worked at a used book store, part of my duties involved packing up books for internet orders. I wrapped and labelled between 200 and 500 books a week – which meant peeking in a lot of books. Every so often, I’d find a great dedication – something cute, funny, or decades old. By the time I left the store, I had dozens and dozens of them.

Now I finally have somewhere to put them – and you can find a new dedication here every Friday.

Have any of your previously loved books come with notes from past owners? Send them my way!

  1. Aww this is so cute. I love finding a dedication in a book. My husband will always always write a little more in the front of the book saying “you are as amazing as the woman in this book” or just silly comments like that! You have written an incredible post by the way and I have to tell you that I love your blog!

    • I love seeing “layered” dedications – where people have added to what’s already there. You can really get a sense of the book’s history. Thanks for dropping by!
